Study in Canada from India

The real, verified structure for students applying from India

If you came from our videos, you already know something important:

The process is not automatic.

And small inconsistencies can affect your entire application.

This page explains the real, verified structure for students applying from India.

1️⃣

You Need an Official Study Permit

You can only apply after receiving a Letter of Acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI).

To be approved, you must demonstrate:

  • Acceptance from a DLI
  • Sufficient proof of funds
  • Genuine study intention
  • Complete and consistent documentation

Your application is evaluated based on clarity, logic, and financial credibility — not just paperwork volume.

2️⃣

Can You Work While Studying?

Yes — if your Study Permit authorizes it.

International students can:

  • Work up to 20 hours per week during academic sessions
  • Work full-time during scheduled breaks

This does not require a separate work permit if conditions are met.

3️⃣

Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)

After completing an eligible program, you may apply for a PGWP.

Important facts:

  • The program must be at least 8 months long
  • The institution must be PGWP-eligible
  • You must have studied full-time
  • You must apply within 180 days of program completion

Program length affects PGWP duration:

  • Less than 2 years → Work permit usually equal to program length
  • 2 years or more → Up to 3 years

It is not automatic. Eligibility matters.

4️⃣

Proof of Funds Is Decisive for Indian Applicants

Officers assess:

  • Stability of funds
  • Clear source of funds
  • Consistency with your academic plan

Two students with similar bank balances can receive different outcomes depending on how the file is structured.

5️⃣

If You Plan to Study in Québec

You must obtain a CAQ (Certificate of Acceptance for Québec) before your Study Permit.

The CAQ must match:

  • Your program
  • Institution
  • Study dates

Inconsistencies between documents can cause delays or additional review.
