Student Acceptance and Placement
The truth is, the English Montreal School Board (EMSB) only opens its doors to international high school students. Your placement is decided based on available spots and the program that best matches your profile. You may suggest a specific school, and while we will take your preference into account, the final decision—for your academic success—rests solely with the EMSB.
Note: The principal may adjust your grade or change your program if your English level is not sufficient for you to thrive.

• Must reside in the same home/apartment as the guardian for the entire enrollment period.

• EMSB may verify housing conditions at any time.
• Changes in guardian/custodian must be reported immediately.
• Non-compliance may lead to being reported to authorities and losing the study contract.
Homestay Requirements:
• Private bedroom for the student in the same residence as the guardian.
• No shared dormitories allowed.
• Home must meet all safety standards (fire extinguisher, smoke detectors, etc.).
